"To give the charm of novelty to things of everyday."
Samuel Taylor Coleridge
Garth Dew is a Preston-based photographer whose practice centres on observation and presence in everyday life, revealing the novelty in moments most people overlook. With a background in filmmaking, he creates cinematic imagery as he moves through the world, whether at home or travelling. His projects include Papa Romeo One, a long-term study of the streets, faces, and textures of his local postcode. Other work includes A Trip Takes Us, a travel zine, and Beautiful Strangers, an ongoing series of spontaneous portraits.
He also works as a video director at GD Video, producing story-driven work across original and commercial projects. His clients include Volvo, Jaguar Land Rover, Speedo, Arla, Autodesk, and AMS Neve, and his films have appeared on the BBC and Kendal Mountain Player. Alongside his photography and film work, Garth also composes instrumental music.
